The finished product looks beautiful too! To know that I have a lifetime warranty on my 'forever home' is incredibly peace giving. If a company offers you a lifetime warranty on everything but the color (that warranty expires after 30 years), you know they will do all they can to make the finished product perfect! My ONLY reason for not giving 5 stars was that during the estimate, we were told we'd need to replace plywood due to mold. When it came time to actually install the plywood, they needed to double the amount required which increased our bid by over $2K. Obviously I wish the original estimate had been more accurate. That said, our attic now has the correct amount of ventilation, fresh plywood with no mold, protected skylights and solar tubes and a beautiful finished product. I'm very happy! If I could give 4.5 stars, I would!”

“Our new metal roof looks really nice, and our attic has been repaired and now has proper venting. The only unexpected issue is kind of cute. Baby crows like using it as a slide, but the noise is minimal. Rain sounds nice and soothing on it. Even hail isn’t too loud. To me, it’s nice to know the moment it starts raining now. Our 2 roof installers were kind and professional. We didn’t get the warning calls we needed in order to know when they would show up, so that needs improvement, whether it should come from them or the office. They finished the whole job in less time than expected even though there were additional repairs that needed to take place. We only got one section of gutter replaced and they matched it so well to our existing gutters that I don’t think anyone would be able to tell the difference. The mess outside was cleaned up very well. I think the only debris I found were small and fell out of plants weeks after they left. My plants were all unharmed too! The mess in the attic was pretty bad, so it would be worth it to add attic cleanup to your scope. Patrick, who we created the plan with was very knowledgeable and readily available to answer all of our questions. He was nice and showed no signs of annoyance with our fairly constant need for additional info. Other than the few minimal issues mentioned, it was an easy process, efficient, and we’re happy with the results.”

Missing starter strip was the main underlying problem, weather was next biggest problem, then distance crew had to travel, with no local backup (your office crew should come up with a backup list for when trouble arises). I have built a home from scratch myself including installing all decking thru shingles. Have completely stripped and reroofed another house. Then completed a 5000 square foot and 6000 square foot commercial building. Did all deck to shingle roofing, then hired my own crew to apply a standing seam metal roof on the 5000 sq. Ft., building after 22 years. I know a little about how to plan out a job. Our house on the front was perfect for stripping a section, then replacing that section, instead of stripping the whole roof at once. Your installers need to be able to read a roof and come up with a sensible plan. Because of wind forecasts should have used tarps, as a second line of defense. As I said above we had small amounts of water come into house in multiple spots, enough to make stains on curtain and blinds, swellings wood floors (looks like it dried out). Hopefully it dried out in ceiling and walls, humidity was high because of everyday rain. We do have a Velux skylight window glass that has two cracks in it that we need to get replaced. Need to know if the trim around window just unscrews off, that a regular glass repair place can handle the job?”

There was some confusion as far as the change order we made and verifying that it had been made. This was just a minor issue. The roof looks fantastic, it changes the house. It's a boring house and the roof makes it pop. I am on the coast and I am sure my neighbor will be taking a hard look at it when it's time for them to re-roof.”

“I would like to recommend Interlock, and I may. It really depends on the circumstances of that friend. First and foremost it's an expensive niche product that is not for everyone. Second, the execution of our contract was not very satisfactory. I'm reluctant to recommend something this pricey when the vendor did not perform to their contract. Deliver by the date in your contract. Communicate more honestly and effectively as issue arise. Clean up the dangerous small bits of construction debris left everywhere. The contract page that asks for (commits people to?) social media endorsements before any work has been performed seemed especially absurd. In our business, those endorsements are earned. We strive to deliver an excellent customer experience - for every customer. We don't get a five-star review every time, but we certainly try to. Deliver on your customer expectations to earn positive reviews.”

They should give people a few days after you fill them with information and options, since this is a big project that costs a lot of money and finances need to be figured out. They did a good job. The lack of calling when there was an issue on their end could have also been improved during the project. It all worked out. I don't think you can go wrong with Interlock Roofing. “From the ordering process that began in January to the actual installation of the roof in November, the communication could have been better. The charcoal gray "slate" roof was installed a few days ago, and we just had a tremendous rain storm; the roof did amazing. The workers who showed up were fast and professional and finished the job in 3 days. After they were done, they did a thorough site cleaning. The roof was definitely more costly than a conventional shingle roof and took some extra effort and delay to get scheduled, but we believe it was well worth it.”

The scheduling person needs to communicate with their customers, letting them know that they are running behind or that it may be months. A customer should never have to ask or beg for an answer. Communication was the only thing we were upset about. After 6 months goes by and the company doesn't communicate with you, you kind of think your deposit is gone and they just ripped you off. Other than that, we really like it, and the gutter guys were impressed with the roof.”

“I would recommend, with the caveat that the person didn’t need a new roof immediately and got a firm date absolutely nailed down. Not sure how much of the issue was due to the universal supply-chain problems, and how much was due to the labor shortage, but the roof went on a couple of months after it was implied by the salesman that it would go on, and about a month after the ‘will surely be on by’ time. However, when we had a leak in the interim, interlock sent a technician out who quickly and efficiently patched the problem until the full team could get here. There was also a small shed under the eaves that was going to get roofing to match the main roof, and I didn’t notice at the time but that didn’t happen. Not sure if it was in the contract or not. Maybe cut back on the sales until you get more materials and people ;p”

And yes, it has to be at the highest point to “see” the transceiver at the service provider’s end. The positive aspects are its appearance, fire resistance, and long life.”

“We were looking towards metal (vs composite) roofing materials as we wanted an increase in fire resistance, and slippery surface to prevent fir needle gathering and moss growth resistance. The product looks great and sheds water and snow. We hope to see similar results with the fir needs and no moss growth. There has not been a noticeable increase in the sound of rain on the roof. We chose Interlock Roofing based on the material (Aluminum less heat retention), lifetime/50yr warranty, ease and quality of installation methods, no color fading, slickness of roof to prevent moss or needle accumulation (thereby fewer trip for me on the roof). The sales team was punctual, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful in discussing the product. They were timely in responding to my questions even after the sale. The office team, May H, was courteous and helpful in keeping us aware of the installation schedule and what was expected from us. The installation team of 4 people was professional and efficient. Completing our 42 square roof in 1.5 days. They were respectful of our environment in that their talking was in conversation tones (not yelling back and forth) and did not use foul language -- even when it appeared someone accidentally dropped an item. An area of improvement would be to have the installation crew perform a final walk around the gutters (on all levels) to ensure there are no nails, metal fragments, or old roofing left in the gutters. I found a dozen nails and half dozen scraps that could have covered the downspouts openings. Have installation crews introduce themselves to the homeowners. Identify who is the site lead. Place a placard (magnetic sign or dash board sign) on the installation crews vehicles as to the company name. I was concerned who was coming into my property, since I was not expecting anyone the day they arrived. I would like a copy of the before, after, and drone video of the installation.”

“When the crew was using the supplied nails for the job, those nails were twice as long as the thickness of the exposed tongue and groove roof accent areas. As a result, the nails completely penetrated those 3/4 inch boards and in some cases splintered the boards. This is visible from underneath in several areas, including over our entry way. In cases like this, shorter nails would have been appropriate. I’m going to have to figure a way to repair some of the damaged areas. Please remember, all the supplied nails were the same size.”

We weren't really happy about the deep ruts in our lawn and the broken stonework on our patio due to them overloading the trailer with roof tile instead of taking it away more frequently so the load was not so heavy. We warned them the yard was soft and to be careful not to break the stonework! They laid down plywood but then ended up with one tire on the stonework anyway breaking it and leaving large ruts in the lawn. They did fill in the ruts and seed with grass. He kind of shrugged it off and said, "We aren't landscapers". They didn't address the broken stonework.”

I covered my gutters after the roof was installed, and found a lot of debris in the gutters as well as on the ground. The debris were mostly pieces of cut metal tiles with very sharp edges. In fact I found this debris on the ground for several months after the job was completed. I suspect that the installation crew was cold and tired and may not have taken as much time as they normally would have because of the weather. “We think that our roof may have been the first 'hip roof' that our particular installation team had worked on,because the ridge pieces were incorrectly applied to the 'hip' ridges. (Ridgeline was OK.) Once we realized that and notified Interlock, a correction was quickly (less than a week) done. Perhaps the different techniques for hip roofs vs. standard gable roofs should be more thoroughly emphasized in training.Also, when the first Office Admin assigned to our project left the company, that was not communicated. We just started getting e-mails from a different person, with no indication that this was a permanent change. We just assumed that the original person was temporarily out-of-office. That could have left us trying to communicate with the wrong person.”

“While interlock is a good product the presentation was overblown. To show me photos of metal roofs oil canning like that is going to happen to my roof if I purchased one made me lose confidence in the presenter. I look at metal roofs all the time and I can tell you that the photo I was shown of qoil canned roof was an exception. Once that happen the presenter lost all credibility with me. Metal roofs are durable and to be told they are not is pushing reality. There are other durable finished too. I do not like hard sells and I feel the product was being over sold.”

“I think it would be nice if they could build a cover or a dome that would be just above the sky lights. I live under trees and I get a lot of debris and then all the debris piles up on the skylights and floods water into the house. If they could build some sort of cover that could prevent buildup I think it would be helpful. Also, at the end of the ridge caps it would be nice to have a ridge cap plate that is cut in a pointed shape because they had to cut/bend it to shape by hand. It didn't look quite as professional but it was satisfactory. My neighbor did complain when the crew took flashing and leaned it against his newly painted gutters. I think they could've placed it somewhere else. Mike was very knowledgable and I learned a lot when he talked about warranty and how they are used. His sales pitch was very informative. I am quite happy.”

We really appreciated that because we aren't good at making a decision like that. If he had pushed more, we would have just said no. However, we still considered it, and we spent a lot of time coming to our decision. In the long run, we decided now isn't the best time, but we would still consider it in the future.”

“One thing would be that I wish they would have left behind the extra product that was left over. When you order it they give you so many boxes of the interlock roofing, and if I wanted to make a wood shed, I would like to use the same roofing on it, but they took back the extra roofing that was left over. I think they get a bonus when they return the left over product, but I would have liked to keep it to use it for different odds and ends. I don't know if you pay for a certain amount, but I don't think we were credited for any of the leftover material they took back.”

“The gutters on our home were left full of debris, and I picked up several nails in the yard. It would be nice to have these things cleaned up upon project completion. We are surprised at the lack of follow up communication from the company. I still have the sign that was left in our yard for longer than the requested time, and this is the first contact regarding our satisfaction with the project.”

I don't know if it the company policies or the roofers trying to save money.”

We told them that there was some water damage and they said it would be okay if rain came before they did the work because they would send a repairman to put a tarp on the roof. Rain came but they hadn't done that, so we had to put a tarp up ourselves. I then complained to him and he apologized and said that he had forgotten and needed to take closer notes.”

Interlock kept us up to date on when they would be out here. The installers arrived in December 2016 and in two days we had a new roof. They were the most polite workers that we have ever had at the house. They showed us the material they that lay down before the roof goes on it was a very thick underlayment. No wonder our house is 5 degrees warmer and the heater doesn’t come on as much as it did before. They did an excellent job of clean up. You could not even tell that we had anything done outside. A few weeks after the roof was installed Glenn Boss and his boss showed up in person to make sure that everything was right and see if we had any questions. You do not see this level of service anywhere. This year here in the Pacific Northwest we have gotten a record amount of rain. With our old metal roof, it would have been really loud, but with the Interlock Roofing System, we can barely hear it. The only way that we knew it is raining is if we hear it hit the windows or we look outside and see it coming down. We just love our new roof! The house looks so much nicer than it did before with our other metal roof. And we are really enjoying how much warmer our home is now.”

I tried zinc strips, moss killer, laundry soap, and I went up on my steep roof once or twice a year with a steel brush and a pressure washer, but it was a never-ending battle, and I wanted to retire! I did go with it because I wanted a long lasting roof. I think you need to make the sales a little softer somehow. That almost made me go with someone else. It is a good roof and they did a good job. The guys on site did really good.”

I originally ordered black but then changed my mind to charcoal gray. When my materials got lost, black was ordered. I like it, but I think I would like charcoal grey better.”

The application and quality of the materials are beyond expectations. We have been enjoying the roof through the winter winds and rain, and hail of the Pacific Northwest. Everyone asks if it is noisy and tinny when it rains. We reply, “of course not! “ It is even quieter than the comp roof we just replaced. We ordered the deep charcoal grey slate. After the rain, while still wet, the roof shines and glistens like real slate. It is a welcoming sight compared to the dull comp roofs of our neighbors. Shortly after installation, there was a wedding up the road from us. We heard from a friend who attended that our roof was the hot topic of discussion since everyone had to drive by our house to reach the wedding. We get many compliments from people who drive by. The installers, while being friendly, are very proud of their workmanship, and we liked the fact that they kept referring to the roof as “their roof”. Hard-working and diligent in the task, they were attentive to every detail. The best onsite reps Interlock could ever have. They were proud of the many years of service working for the company, and that fact, too, lends itself to efficient communication and workflow. The installation happened during the summer during some of the hottest days on record. The installers measured their days, coming early, resting during the hottest times and returning during the coolness of the evenings, doing what needed to be done to get the job done. While more expensive than traditional comp roofs up front, the fact that we never have to replace the roof during our lifetime is well worth it. This house is our forever house, and the best part of our new roof is the fact that my husband will never have to climb up a ladder to clean off the moss that grows so well here in the wet but green northwest. After much investigation and consideration of other metal roofing products on the market, we highly recommend a metal roof, specifically one by Interlock.”

“The roofing has a built in slot for gutter guards but this is missing in the corners so I am still trying to get my gutter guards to work. A better design for both inner and outer corners would be nice.Sales material should be much clearer that existing metal items on the roof that are not aluminum like a disk antenna will need special treatment.My patio cover could not be attached to the roof like it had been. I had walls in place to enclose it so the crew was able to attach to cover them for support. I had intended those walls to be removable when I no longer needed them but I no longer have that option if I want to keep my patio cover.Better information on the light tubes. One was sufficient in the bathroom but I think two would have been netter in my computer room given the shade on that side of the house and how much cloud cover my area gets for much of the year. The night they finished the roof it poured. It was interesting to watch the water coming down the roof like a series of little waterfalls. Inside, it was incredibly quiet.”
