The short answer: an aluminum interlocking roof is engineered and warranted for the life of the home — and the honest way to back that claim is not a brochure, it is a dated photograph. This install, a black Interlock® aluminum slate roof in Eugene, went on in 2017 and is the oldest photographed Oregon install in our gallery.
Why we date our proof
Any roofer can say “lifetime.” We publish job numbers, towns, and install years instead — 438 documented Oregon photographs across 43 cities, every one a real address. The Eugene roof anchors that record in public: rain seasons, heat waves, and south-valley moss weather, photographed and verifiable.
Our job book goes deeper than the camera does: 1,641 completed Oregon installations on record since 1997, 64 of them in Eugene since 1998. The oldest completions in the Pacific Northwest book date to 1997 — those roofs are approaching their fourth decade of service.
The math against asphalt
Asphalt west of the Cascades typically needs replacing every 15 to 25 years — the valley’s moss and rain see to the short end of that range. A homeowner who chose asphalt in 2017 is already inside the window where the next tear-off gets quoted. The Eugene roof will simply still be there.
That is the warranty’s shape too: the Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty covers the original owner for life, transfers once, and covers the second owner to 50 years from substantial completion. The coating — Alunar® 70% PVDF — is warranted 30 years on its own.
